Research interests:
Broadly understood research issues related to interactions between microorganisms and plants. They are at the center of interest:
- endophytic microorganisms (bacteria/fungi),
- symbiotic fungi (ectomycorrhizal and arbusculrane),
- diazotrophic bacteria (N2-fixing),
- bacteria and fungi that are plant pathogens,
- human pathogenic microorganisms,
- plant viruses.
The research conducted concerns:
- determining the taxonomic and functional biodiversity of microorganisms,
- isolation and identification of microorganisms,
- selection of microorganisms that promote plant growth (PGPR) and participate in biocontrol processes,
- determination of metabolites of microbial origin important from the point of view of interactions with plants.
Research is conducted in areas affected by abiotic stress (areas polluted with heavy metals, high salinity, low temperatures, drought, nutrient deficiency). The research work concerns not only trees and herbaceous plants that naturally inhabit the studied environments, but also cultivated plants (cereals, vegetables) that are important for the development of agriculture.
